I am having issues adjusting the superheat on the Danfoss TU expansion valve, what do I do?
The Danfoss TU expansion valve has a very precise superheat adjustment, ¼ turn of the superheat adjustment spindle equals approximately one degree Fahrenheit. Please follow the steps below to ensure proper adjustment of TU expansion valve superheat. Check System Conditions. • Before making any adjustments, ensure that the system is stable and not under high load. • Under conditions such as pull down or coming off of defrost, excessive superheat and evaporator pressure and temperatures are normal and are the result of the TEV opening in reaction to these high loads. Adjust superheat: • Remove cap with a 5/32 in Allen wrench. • Using same wrench, make the smallest changes feasible (1/4 turn maximum). • Allow the system to stabilize before taking measurements and making additional adjustments (typically no more than 15 minutes). • However, if superheat is excessive, a full turn of the setting spindle is recommended in case the valve is stuck due to debris lodging.
What is the difference between the TUA/TUAE valve and the TUB/TUBE or TUC/TUCE?
The TUA/TUAE has an exchangeable orifice and an adjustable superheat setting.
The TUB/TUBE comes with a fixed orifice and adjustable superheat setting and may be used for aftermarket replacement but is typically used by OEMs.
The TUC/TUCE comes with a fixed orifice and fixed superheat setting and is primarily used by OEMs seeking specific valve settings.
